Beliefs

Introduction: Exploring Beliefs with Elynn Light

Hello, I'm Elynn Light, an Integrated Healer, and today I'm thrilled to delve into the topic of beliefs. This subject has always fascinated me, especially considering my journey into personal growth work. Initially, we weren't allowed to explore belief work until reaching an advanced course level, enveloping it in an aura of mystique. But now, many years later, we're diving right in, asking outright: what do you believe about that?

The Dichotomy of Positive and Negative Beliefs

Positive beliefs, such as feeling successful, attractive, healthy, and loved, typically don’t require our attention and intervention. On the other hand, self-limiting or negative beliefs certainly do. People have diverse perspectives, but as a map practitioner, I firmly believe that beliefs can, and indeed, are able to change rapidly.

Engaging with Our Beliefs

Often, our beliefs about ourselves, others, and the world at large only come into focus when we confront challenges or seek changes and improvements in certain areas of our lives. For example, if you harbor beliefs like 'I'm not enough,' 'I'll never be loved,' or 'I never get a chance,' or even if you relate these thoughts to chronic pain, such as 'I'm being punished' or 'I'll never get better,' it’s crucial to dig beneath the surface of those thoughts. Underneath a physical sensation or emotional response lies a belief.

Digging Deeper into Pain and Emotions

Sometimes, we might feel persistent knee pain and instantly reach for ice or CBD. But if you delve deeper and become present to the sensation without anger toward your body, listening and feeling into that body part, you may discover associated emotions, such as frustration, powerlessness, or sadness. The next step is to go deeper still, asking: what do I believe about this?

The Dangerous Power of Negative Beliefs

Harboring beliefs like 'bad things always happen to me,' 'I never get an opportunity,' or 'it’s my lot in life to suffer' can be detrimental because beliefs have a way of manifesting into reality. Beliefs and emotions generate an energy, a frequency, that can magnetize our experiences, determining what seems possible or impossible in our lives. And perpetuating patterns of "bad luck".

Insights from a Mentor and Identifying Prevalent Beliefs

I once studied with a phenomenal mentor, exploring hybrid hypnosis, and she discovered a prevalent belief among her clients, both celebrities and everyday people: the belief that 'I am not enough.' Conversely, some people carry the belief that 'I am too much.' Identifying these beliefs is crucial because their origins can usually be traced back to early family life and the beliefs our parents handed down to us, knowingly or unknowingly.

Understanding the Origin of Beliefs

Beliefs might stem from our early experiences in our family, watching our parents, or from their direct influence. Whether it’s a belief that 'I don’t matter,' 'I’m not important,' 'I’m not lovable,' or that 'love, attention, time, and health are not available to me,' these can impact various aspects of our lives, including health, relationships, and finances. Identifying and exploring these beliefs, especially in areas where we seek change, becomes pivotal.

Techniques for Changing Beliefs

There are several methods for altering beliefs. An old-fashioned approach involves writing a positive statement, followed by the mind’s objection, thanking the mind, and repeating the positive statement. However, using the map technique, which we will explore in group or one-on-one sessions, allows us to clear these beliefs more efficiently.

A Journey through Emotional and Belief Clearing

Engaging with and naming your negative emotions is crucial because once they are identified, we can clear them promptly using the map method. Beliefs may not only originate from family but also from school, social media, culture, religion, past failures, criticism, and rejection. The heartening news is that beliefs can be changed. Although it might not happen in a day, transforming even one beliefs can significantly alter your feelings, energy, and frequency.

Conclusion: The Path Forward in Identifying Beliefs

Let’s embark on this journey to identify and challenge these beliefs, shall we? Looking forward to exploring this further with you. See you soon.
